Apple, sometime within the month, is planning on releasing something that quote ” has been in the works for years”. Steve Jobs in his biography detailed that he had “set his sights on textbooks” stating that it was a 8 billion dollar industry set for destruction. He had been getting together with textbook manufacturers since the original iPad was released in 2010. This event is set to take place in New York, where almost all textbook manufacturers are located. Perhaps Apple is hosting an event with the textbook makers. I believe it has been Apples plan to kill textbooks for years. Now, with the iPad and its good paper-like size, they have that chance. No date for the event is known. It is something though that is catching attention. We’ll just have to see what happens in the weeks to come.

Steve Jobs Legacy
As all of you know, Steve Jobs died earlier this year and Apple is about to start a whole new year without him. What Apple needs to do to ensure it remains a global leader in technology is to follow the triumph, legacy and beliefs that this man left for us. They need to follow in the legacy of Steve Jobs.
What exactly is his legacy? Everything that Apple and Pixar have done to this point is what he dedicated his life for. All of his products from the Apple II all the way up the iPad 2 he created for us to use in our daily lives and to improve it. Let’s face it, we live in Steve’s World. We watch his movies everyday made from an amazing studio called Pixar. We listen to our music libraries everyday through his wonderful iPods, we search the web with his amazing computers, we talk to our friends using his revolutionary phone and we have the whole world in our hands with his magical iPad. And we have learned how to live our lives through his amazing speech at Stanford. I have heard countless numbers of stories on the web and just talking to people of how these products helped them do what they thought was impossible like parents in Los Angeles allowing their children to see their sick grandmother in the hospital in New York City or connecting cousins in different countries, for free. Steve Jobs, through his word, is leading a new type of generation. He is leading, through his word, a type of generation that uses technology to connect with one another without being in the same room. He is leading a generation of people that will ask themselves when they wake up in the morning if that day were their last would they do what they were about to do that day. His wisdom will lead a generation that will take initiative to do what they want to do instead of what living another’s life. You see, his legacy isn’t just his products but what he believed in. Doing what you love everyday, to never give up even when the worst happens and to live your own life. This is the generation of people Apple needs to focus on. This is the group of leaders that Apple should target. I know that every decision Apple makes is moving and will move towards this group of people because thats what Steve’s legacy put them in a position to do. I wish everyone of you a Happy New Year and may all your best wishes come true in 2012.

Oh I forgot, there’s one more thing. One story I want to share with you. Just one I promise. I watched a program one night that was talking about autistic kids and iPad. There are apps on the iPad that allow these autistic kids to communicate with parents and others what they want and it allows a much easier route for these parents to understand what their autistic kids want. Imagine for a second what these parents think when they finally have a way to easily communicate with their kids when before it was so hard to do so. Imagine the joy they must have. Just changing one person’s life for the better would have been good enough for Jobs. He just happened to change the world.
Steve Jobs Receives First Ever Posthumous Grammy
Steve Jobs, in a unprecedented event, has won a first ever Posthumous Grammy award. He has received the prestigious music award for his overall lifetime work in music, including but not limited to, iTunes, iPod, iPhone and iPad which all have extraordinary music capabilities. As a matter of fact, I’m listening to music off of one his devices, purchased by a service only he could have created while so many others tried and failed.
If its one monopoly Apple really has, its the Music Player. They have had that ever since they released the iPod. Thank you Steve Jobs for your contributions. Yet another organization gets it right, why couldn’t have Time saw this?
Barbara Walters Got it Right
I know that earlier I declared “war” on Time magazine and that still stands, but one person that I admire just got even better. I just watched Barbara Walters special on the most influential people of 2011. Its something they have done for years and one of the rules is that the person must be alive. But Walters instead broke the rule and decided to make Steve Jobs the most influential person of 2011, saying that rules were made to be broken just like Steve Jobs believed. The short segment on him was so heartfelt it almost made me cry. It was very touching.
I have always respected Barbara Walters as an excellent journalist but this raised her over top. Why couldn’t have Time see it the way she did. She and Diane Sawyer are my two favorite reporters and Walters just got a big boost. Thanks Barbara for seeing the true influential person of the year.

Steve Jobs did not win Times Person of the Year- CoA declares war on Time magazine
First before I get to my declaration, lets go back in time. In 1984, Steve Jobs released the Macintosh. It was completely revolutionary and 1984 wasnt 1984. It was evident that Jobs would win Person of the Year from Time. However, they made it the computer as the Machine of the Year. Steve Jobs was cheated out of his title.
Zoom up 27 years and Steve Jobs has recently passed but has provided technology that changed the world forever. Even though 2011 has come and passed with above average Apple achievement (releasing a new revolutionary product would be a extraordinary year). Apple, however did release iCloud, Lion and of course iPad 2. These are pretty significant.
Anyway, the products wouldn’t just be the reason he would win. Jobs has left his whole life’s legacy, wonderful products that we could benefit from. But not only this, he has left his philosophy which millions, through his commencement speech follow and work to change the world in their own way. He has changed the world. Time cheated him out of his deserved title, even though they had not one but several opportunities. After the iMac, iPhone and iPad were released ‘Time’ could easily have given him the title. This year after his passing, provided yet another opportunity. Steve Jobs should have won the title.
Instead it goes to… The Protestor. My first thought WTH! What in Gods name has a protestor done. They’re still protesting! They haven’t changed anything yet. Egypt is still in turmoil, better off than before, but still in deep trouble. Occupy protestors haven’t changed our corrupt politicians. But the protestor which, to be honest, hasn’t done anything gets the title while Jobs gets an obituary in the magazine. I commend the work of the protestor. Just give them the title next year if no other person deserves it. Time will not have another opportunity to give him the title. He is dead. They have no more opportunities. They made a big mistake, so it is with that, that I declare a peaceful war against Time and am hereby boycotting the magazine and I recommend any and every Apple fan boycott it as well. Time should pay for the shame it has shown Steve Jobs and Apple. Boycott Time and make them pay for this disgrace.

Samsung VS Apple- A mixed Battle
Hello church of Apple fans, Joe here. Ive been sick for the past week and I dont write well when I’m sick. Anyway, lets talk Apple and Samsung. The past few weeks have been particularly tough for Apple. Currently, Australia and the US have overturned the ban. The courts say that copyrights were not infringed. Ok. Are these judges blind? The similarities are striking. I believe that Apple is being cheated and I feel that Samsung should be brought to justice for their copying of Apple copyrighted materials. They are using Apple copyrights. These courts should follow suit of that of Germany which did see the injustice and promptly banned the Galaxy tab in question. Legal battles are still taking place in Britain, South Korea and Japan. It is unlikely that Apple will win in SK since Samsung is a SK company but we’ll see how that turns out. However, one really bad thing Germany got wrong (thank God its only Germany) is that Germany has banned iPhone and iPad because of another lawsuit from Motorola. The courts are having a lot on their hands with all these companies suing each other. But let me remind you, Apple came first with these devices. There would be no Galaxy Tab or Motorola whatever without Apple so Samsung and Motorola should show some respect. Lets see how all these lawsuits play out in the weeks to come and hope that Apple comes out on top of its remaining lawsuits.

Apple is the #1 manufacturer of smart phones in the US
Today, statistics were given out showing that Apple is still the number one manufacturer of smart phones with a #2 spot in Operating system. This news shows that a Apple ships 28.3% of all Smartphone sales in the US. It shows that iOS has again 28.3% of OSs in phones. Android comes out on top in this category however, at a 42.8 % OS market share. However since this 42.8% is divided among 4+ companies and OS is one, Apple comes on top.
This is not case with tablets. Apple comes on top easily in this category. With many failed Android attempts such as old Android phone OS on a Tablet doesn’t work. Apple retains 65.8% of the tablet market, dominating the competition. The market share of iOS for tablets is again 65.8%. If these two, tablets and phones, are brought together as one market share, we’ll call it iOS, it would contain 62% of the total market (as of December 2nd). Android is placed at 18%. So it sounds like Apple is doing an excellent job. We can all hope that they will pull of all their new products and be victorious in those. This would contain the iTV and could contain the debated MacBook Touch (folds into a tablet). We will have to wait and see what market share these products will get.

Steve Jobs could be the first person to receive Time’s Person of the Year posthumously
As you may or may not know, Steve Jobs is up for Times Person of the Year having been nominated by Brian Williams. I believe he is the best considering the competition (Herman Cain and Caycee Anthony are just a few “stunning” competitors, come on people we all know Caycee killed her daughter). But why now? Why would now be the best time to nominate him? The answer is simple, he may not have turned out another revolutionary product this year with the exception of the iPad 2 of course, which to be honest isn’t that notable, I love my iPad 2 but it’s not something that would grant him an award this big.
It’s his whole life’s work that gives him the title. He, as we all sadly know, died last month. He died still doing what he loved to do. And that is what a dreamer and an innovator does. They do their job right up until the end, he stood up against his death and he said that he was going to change the world and by golly he did. He proved that any one person is possible of achieving greatness if they put their minds to it and they dream. The people who are crazy enough to change the world are the ones who do. And he proved that in his life. Maybe that’s something we all need to do. Our economy is struggling and we aren’t doing anything about except electing idiotic politicians that keep all the money to themselves.
He has taught us that we can dream big and achieve big. His whole life was something he built from his garage. It is this ideal that can get this country back on it’s feet. I believe that he should be the person of the year because he not only changed the world in his own way but he also has showed us that we can do the same if we follow what we believe and not any one else. You only have one life to live, make the best of it. It is not only his products but his ideals that shouldn’t only land him person of the year but person of the decade as well.

Apple Market Share
Let’s consider for a second that iPad is considered a personal computer, which in my opinion it is. (Definition of personal computer is any general-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and original sales price make it useful for individuals, and which is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer operator, a iPad is a general-purpose computer, it’s size is useful, it’s capabilities are of a PC, and it’s sales price is reasonable). Anyway, an iPad is a personal computer. The market share of Apple is 25%. 25% of the worlds computers are shipped by Apple. That is a HUGE amount. That is Apple at work. Whats even more great is that other companies market shares are DECLINING! Apple is already the #1 computer company in the world, #2 most valuable company in the world. It has been ahead of Microsoft for a year or more. Apple share is going up while other computer companies are going down. Well Apple IS the best. Feel free to comment!

I still own my original Apple 2+ and what I love about Apple, is the feeling of possibilities when you boot a Apple product up. The energy and excitement when you walk into the local Apple store with no particular reason for being there, other than your love for Apple and the Apple culture. Apple products are so simple, yet intuitive in there form and function.
