As you may or may not know, Steve Jobs is up for Times Person of the Year having been nominated by Brian Williams. I believe he is the best considering the competition (Herman Cain and Caycee Anthony are just a few “stunning” competitors, come on people we all know Caycee killed her daughter). But why now? Why would now be the best time to nominate him? The answer is simple, he may not have turned out another revolutionary product this year with the exception of the iPad 2 of course, which to be honest isn’t that notable, I love my iPad 2 but it’s not something that would grant him an award this big.
It’s his whole life’s work that gives him the title. He, as we all sadly know, died last month. He died still doing what he loved to do. And that is what a dreamer and an innovator does. They do their job right up until the end, he stood up against his death and he said that he was going to change the world and by golly he did. He proved that any one person is possible of achieving greatness if they put their minds to it and they dream. The people who are crazy enough to change the world are the ones who do. And he proved that in his life. Maybe that’s something we all need to do. Our economy is struggling and we aren’t doing anything about except electing idiotic politicians that keep all the money to themselves.
He has taught us that we can dream big and achieve big. His whole life was something he built from his garage. It is this ideal that can get this country back on it’s feet. I believe that he should be the person of the year because he not only changed the world in his own way but he also has showed us that we can do the same if we follow what we believe and not any one else. You only have one life to live, make the best of it. It is not only his products but his ideals that shouldn’t only land him person of the year but person of the decade as well.
