We at the Church of Apple never break out of our standard Apple-based articles, however with the recent shooting in Colorado, I feel it is time to break that.
Shortly after Midnight yesterday night, a gunman by the name of James Holmes opened fire into a movie theatre showing the new Batman movie. 12 people were killed and 59 people were injured, most critically. These numbers make it the worst mass shooting in US History. There are many stories of heroism in that theatre despite the the horror experienced in it. Also, I would personally like to thank not only the police officers, firefighters, and medics at the scene but I’d also like to thank the 9-1-1 dispatchers for the amazing work they do. Without these heroes, our world would certainly be a worse one. Please join me in giving thanks to the emergency workers and the ones who dispatched them and remained as calm as possible during one of America’s darkest hours. Also, please join me in giving thoughts, prayers and condolences to the families directly affected by this tragedy.
“Tonight I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.”
This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time.
None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.
Thank you. Good night and God bless America.”
-George W. Bush
This was the post 9/11 speech President Bush said after 9/11. I felt like it applied here too. (No political endorsement, just a quote).
Again, I ask that you join me in thoughts, condolences, and prayer for those who were hurt, emotionally or physically. May those who were killed rest in peace, may those who were injured and remain in the hospital tonight recover and may the criminal in this premeditated horrendous act be punished accordingly.
Thank you for reading,
Joe
