Instituted 23 April 1905 by King Friedrich August III. (1905 1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with WELTKRIEG 1914 1916 (WORLD WAR 1914 1916) clasp, the obverse with a central wreathed monogram of King Friedrich August III, the reverse with an inscription of FRIEDRICH AUGUST MEDAILLE, within a wreathed of stylized oak leaves, unmarked, measuring 28. 48 mm
