Apple has just released the sixth developer beta for macOS Sequoia, visionOS 2, and tvOS 18. These can now be installed on compatible devices. This new beta version comes just one week after the 5th beta, which Apple released last Monday. This is a surprising move from Apple, as they usually allow more time between beta versions.
As for the update for Macs, a particular feature has just been introduced. It’s called “iPhone mirroring.” Essentially, with this beta version, you can take control of your iPhone from your Mac screen. This feature allows you to control an iPhone with a mouse and keyboard, which can be very useful for long writing tasks or work requiring a large screen while using apps that are only available on the iPhone.
VisionOS 2: A Continuity Update
In addition to macOS, other operating systems were updated at the start of this week by Apple. For example, VisionOS. This new software version can convert a 2D image (like a photo or video taken with an iPhone) into a 3D image visible inside the headset.
The travel mode has also been improved by Tim Cook’s teams. It now supports trains. Another small update is that the “guest” mode can save a profile for 30 days. This way, you can let someone try your virtual reality headset without them having to create a new account each time.
tvOS 18: A Touch of Amazon Prime Video
Finally, tvOS also received a surprise beta version at the start of the week. The standout feature this year is the arrival of InSight. This feature provides real-time information about the actors on screen, the filming location, or the music currently playing. A very similar feature has existed on Amazon Prime Video, where it has been a signature feature for several years.
To install these three beta versions, you need to go to your device’s settings. Then, in the “General” section, tap the “Software Update” subsection. A “Beta Update” note should then appear on the screen. By opening it, you’ll be able to install the 6th developer beta versions on Mac, Vision Pro, and Apple TV.
